Where is the sun?

Well, it's still really really cold. This bout of freakishly cold spring weather (it's snowing on the valley floor today) has me a little anxious...I just put out salad and chard starts, all the peas are up about an inch or two, and the peach and apple are blooming...fortunately I didnt expect to really get a fruit set off the trees this year, so I won't be too disappointed if the frost gets to the buds...
Speaking of fruit trees, I got more! My boss's employees brother was giving away left over fruit trees, so I got three. One Asian pear-definitely that worst looking of the lot (they were all bare root and sat out for a good couple weeks at the nursery, someone would walk by and water the exposed roots once in awhile out of pity), one family Apple, and a family Cherry ("family" being when multiple variety's are grafted onto one rootstock) I have decided to work the Cherry and Pear into my espalier trellis....which means I will be building two more "bays", extending it across the whole back section of fence...thats 36' feet of fruit! Mmmmmmm.......
Here is the Cherry...
I would have liked to wait and plant it after the trellis was built, but they were all on the brink of dying, no time to waste.

Here is the first bay. I was just about to attach the wire between posts, but am going to hold off until the rest is built, so I can run full length wires down the run.

Apple buds....don't freeze!

This weather has me down too... I can't wait to get back in that hammock and watch you bustle around the garden!
